Questions About Insurance Claims
Most standard homeowners policies cover sudden, accidental damage caused by wind, hail, falling objects, and other specified perils. Damage from neglect, age, or wear-and-tear is typically excluded. In the Treasure Valley, hail and windstorms are the most common covered events. Whether your specific damage qualifies depends on your policy language and the nature of the damage - which is why a forensic inspection matters before you file.
You don't need to know before you call us. That's what the inspection is for. We document every defect, map every impact point, and give you an honest assessment of whether the damage is likely to meet your deductible threshold and qualify under your policy. We've inspected thousands of roofs in this area and we'll tell you honestly if filing makes sense - because filing a weak claim can affect your premium without resulting in any payment.
Potentially, yes. Filing a claim - even a denied one - can be recorded on your CLUE (Comprehensive Loss Underwriting Exchange) report and may affect your premium at renewal. This is one reason we recommend a thorough inspection before filing. We want to know that a claim has a reasonable chance of paying out before we recommend you file one. Your insurance agent is the best person to discuss your specific policy's claim impact.
RCV (Replacement Cost Value) pays the full cost to replace your roof at today's material and labor prices. ACV (Actual Cash Value) subtracts depreciation for the age and condition of your existing roof. A 20-year-old roof with ACV coverage might pay 30–40% of replacement cost - leaving you with a large gap to cover. RCV coverage is preferable, and most modern policies have it, but it typically requires completing the replacement before the depreciation is released. We help you navigate this process so you recover the full RCV amount.
This is more common than you'd expect. Adjusters work quickly, often inspect dozens of properties per week after a storm event, and may not have roofing installation expertise. When we find documented damage that wasn't included in the initial estimate, we request a re-inspection and present our documentation directly to the adjuster or their supervisor. In many cases, we recover significant additional scope - sometimes thousands of dollars in missed items.
Questions About Replacing a Roof
Most residential roof replacements in the Treasure Valley are completed in a single day - typically 6 to 10 hours depending on roof size, pitch, and complexity. Larger homes or roofs with significant decking replacement may require two days. We confirm the timeline with you before scheduling, and we do not leave a job with exposed decking overnight without explicit communication about why.
You don't need to be home for the installation itself. We ask that someone is available at the start and end of the job - at the start to confirm scope and access, and at the end for the final walkthrough. We'll contact you before and after, provide before-and-after photos, and leave a documentation package. If you can't be there at all, we'll work around your schedule and conduct the walkthrough remotely if necessary.
We don't do lay-overs. Idaho code limits roofing to two layers, and a second layer can hide decking problems, add weight that stresses the structure, and void manufacturer shingle warranties. More importantly, we can't see what we're installing over. Our commitment to knowing what's under the shingles before we install them means full tear-off every time. It's more work, but it's the only way to stand behind our warranty with confidence.
Spring through fall is ideal - mild temperatures allow asphalt shingles to seal properly (they require ambient temperature above 40°F for full sealing). That said, we install year-round. Winter installations are possible with proper precautions; shingles are hand-sealed when automatic sealing isn't reliable. If your roof is failing, don't wait for spring - water damage compounds quickly. We'll tell you honestly if conditions require special handling.
We primarily install GAF, CertainTeed, and Owens Corning products - the three largest shingle manufacturers in North America. All three offer Class A fire ratings, 30-year manufacturer warranties on standard architectural products, and Class 4 impact-resistant options. We're GAF Certified, which means we can offer enhanced system warranties on qualifying GAF installations. We'll recommend the right product for your home, climate exposure, and budget during the estimate.
Questions About Our Process
Yes. No strings attached. We inspect, document, and give you a written assessment at no charge. If there's damage and you want an estimate, we'll write one. If there's no damage worth acting on, we tell you that too. We don't manufacture urgency to generate revenue.
For insurance jobs, we typically start within 1–3 weeks of receiving the signed contract and the first insurance check. For cash-pay or financed jobs, we schedule within 2–3 weeks depending on current workload and season. During post-storm peak periods this may extend slightly - we'll give you an accurate timeline at signing, not an optimistic one.
Yes, where required by local jurisdiction. Most Idaho cities require permits for full roof replacements. We handle the permit application as part of the project - it's included in your estimate, not an add-on. Any contractor who doesn't pull permits is cutting corners that protect you: permits require inspections that catch installation errors and protect you if you ever sell the home.
We accept check, credit card, ACH transfer, and financed payment through our lending partners. For insurance jobs, payment is typically structured around the insurance disbursement schedule: initial payment at contract signing from the ACV check, final payment at completion when the RCV depreciation is released. We work with your insurance payment timeline - we don't demand payment before your insurance has paid you.
Call us. Immediately. We want to know about any concern before you've spent time worrying about it. If the issue is workmanship, we fix it under warranty at no cost. If there's a misunderstanding about scope, we work through it. We've been in business since 2022 because we solve problems - we don't avoid them. Our goal is that every customer becomes a referral source, and that doesn't happen without genuine satisfaction.
